Rick Mitzen is a seasoned water expert with over 60 years of experience in the field. His passion for sustainable water solutions has driven him to make a lasting impact on communities worldwide. From his military service to his work with Saudi Arabia and Rayners Ranch, Rick’s journey has been one of dedication, innovation, and positive change.
Rick’s journey began after high school when he joined the United States Marine Corp. Stationed at El Toro Marine base he worked and trained the Saudis in aircraft jet engines, Test cells, and making sure supplies were on hand at all times. His time in the Marines instilled discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of duty. Little did he know that this experience would shape his future endeavors.
In 1973, Rick embarked on a significant chapter of his life by working with Saudi Arabia. For three years he collaborated on water-related projects, gaining invaluable insights into water scarcity, infrastructure, and community needs. His commitment to finding sustainable solutions led him to create Conservation, Resources and Development, Inc. and Rick’s work with Saudi Arabia resulted in a win-win scenario, benefiting both nations.
About a decade ago, Rick collaborated with Saudi Arabia once again while working with Rayner’s Ranch along the Colorado River, in Arizona, and on a forward-thinking agricultural venture. His role was pivotal in coordinating a comprehensive plan that integrated water management with farming practices. The goal? To optimize water usage while ensuring bountiful harvests. Rick’s expertise bridged the gap between water conservation and agricultural productivity, creating positive outcomes for both Rayner’s Ranch and Saudi Arabia.
Rick’s commitment to water stewardship extends beyond business and inspires others to take action and make a positive impact on all water issues.
Rick Mitzen’s legacy is one of innovation, compassion, and resilience. His journey—from military service to global water initiatives—has shaped communities and transformed lives. As the founder of Conservation, Resources and Development, Inc. Rick continues to lead the charge, ensuring that water remains accessible, sustainable, and a source of hope for generations to come worldwide. His inventions on all water canals and reservoirs, has proven that evaporation accounted for a 35% loss of water. Bad overseeing of the operations, bad leadership and false reports, has cost the loss of 20% of water. (Studies done at the University of Fresno)
